BEDE’S CLUB CLOSURE …The Archdiocesan Club Management Committee have announced that the club will cease to trade on August 5th BISHOP Alan Winstanley (the ex vicar of St. John’s ) has asked all the local churches to pray for his wife Vivian who is suffering from terminal cancer. We pray for her and her family. All parishioners are invited to follow Bp. Alan’s example and turn to the community for prayer in times of need. Cards are always available at the back of church for naming the person in need and these are brought to the altar at Mass every morning. Likewise the Thursday prayer meetings are open to all people in time of need. CAFOD has called for the upcoming G8 Summit in Belfast to 1 Help poor countries and support their small holder farmers 2 tackle tax havens and stop the outflow of billions of pounds from developing countries 3 protect poor farmers from land grabbing and curb the use of farmland for growing bio fuels, 4 call for action to tackle climate control. We pray for Lilian Stanhope of Bankside who died on Thursday after a long illness.
