The gospel for the second Sunday of Lent is always that of the Transfiguration is always offered as a n encouragement to the one who has accepted God as Father. It is called a theophany…God revealing himself to his people. The first reading from Genesis is another theophany in which God commits Himself to the Magnificat promise “ made to Abraham and his desdendants. Abraham put his faith in the Lord who counted this as making him justified. Our homeland is in heaven. This is my Son, the chosen one. Listen to him. LENT There are some very useful Lenten articles on the parish website. Today’s second collection is the annual Lenten CAFOD collection.. The bishops of England and Wales have produced a memorial card to encourage us to pray for Pope Benedict at the conclusion of his Pontificate….please take one. His Pontificate ends on Thursday evening. Today we have Archbishop Kelly’s final pastoral letter to the Archdiocese prior to his retirement Dates for your diary…. Monday….please note that the Monday Mass has reverted to the 8.30 time Thursday 28st Feb, 7.30pm café March 10th : Baptism of Stanley-Walter Denton.
