The Lord proclaims: \u201cso shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose.\u201d The Word is the Son of God. \u201cCreation waits with eager longing\u201d to \u201cbe set free from its bondage to corruption, and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.\u201d That is why Jesus speaks to us in a way that reminds us of the moment of creation: as if we are soil. \u201cThe Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life\u201d (Gn 2:7). We have the potential, the freedom to be good, rich, productive soil. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption, and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.
