POPE IN BRAZIL<\/b><\/p>\n

Mercy is clearly one of Pope Francis\u2019 favourite words. He uses it often\u00a0 to describe a personal encounter,\u00a0 in prayer and sacraments, with Jesus Christ It is his term for a loving embrace<\/p>\n

that conveys acceptance and forgiveness, not dwelling on people\u2019s\u2019 faults\u00a0 but looking for the good in them. It was powerfully on display during his visit to\u00a0 World Youth Day in Brazil which brought three million\u00a0 young people to the beach in Copacabana to join him at Mass, \u201cto meet Jesus and feel the warmth of his mercy and his love.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Pope seems to recognise that the Catholic Church has not\u00a0 been regarded as\u00a0 loving and merciful, and therefore has been\u00a0 untrue to\u00a0 its divine founder.<\/p>\n

…it is seen as\u00a0 disapproving and judgemental, especially by the generation that World Youth Day wishes to embrace…..<\/p>\n

Alongside his\u00a0 preaching of the church of the poor, Pope Francis preaches a church of mercy.<\/p>\n

Sayings of the Pope…\u201d.Jesus\u00a0 did not tell his disciples to share the gospel ,\u201dif you would like to,or \u00a0if you have time. Where does Jesus send us ? There are no borders, no limits. He sends us to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow precious is the family as the privileged\u00a0 place\u00a0 for transmitting the faith. How important grandparents are for family life\u201d<\/p>\n
