NEWS FROM THE VATICAN <\/b>Pope Francis has<\/p>\n

Appointed eight Cardinals from five continents to help him govern and reform the church , beginning with the reform of the Curia amid concerns about corruption and mismanagement in the central\u00a0 administration of the Church.<\/p>\n

The appointment of this team\u00a0 has been described as \u201cthe most important step in the history\u00a0 of the Church for the past 10 centuries.<\/p>\n

On this Vocation Sunday it is heartening to be able to report an increase in vocations for the third year in a row…the highest number since the mid 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n

LIVERPOOL CARE PATHWAY<\/b>….Bp. Egan of Portsmouth has welcomed reports that the government will abolish cash incentives rewarding NHS Trusts for placing seriously ill or elderly patients on the Liverpool Care Pathway (LCP).<\/p>\n

He said recently\u00a0 \u201cOne of my reservations was the payment of financial incentives to hospitals to put patients on the LCP. I worry that this could easily blur motives. I am delighted therefore that the government is going to stop\u00a0 these payments and thus to avoid any potential confusion\u201d.<\/p>\n
